It comes as no great surprise that Inzamam-ul-Haq has been found not guilty on ball-tampering but guilty for bringing the game into disrepute and given a 4 match ban. There really couldn’t be any other decision, and I suspect most of the game wants to move on from the cock-up, without any more tedious posturing from the parties concerned.
I did notice that the proceedings appeared to be held in secret. I also noticed that Simon Highes was an expert witness, called by Pakistan, and I think we can guess he said something along the lines of, “nothing unusual in condition of ball – seen much worse in my time.”
I’m currently enjoying his Morning Everyone: An Ashes Odyssey
and what he consistently reveals is that he’s completely unable to keep any kind of confidence.
So for the full story on today’s proceedings we may have to wait for Simon Hughes’ next book.

The news is that Troy Cooley will be putting up some English mates during the Ashes series – as long as they forget the 3 lions stuff.
He also says in part two of his Aussie Cricinfo interview:
You can’t buy natural pace – that’s given. It’s in the make up of your body – the ability to rotate your arm fast.

One of those great stories about someone being ” discovered” bowling in the nets.
In this case it’s Sachin Vaja , a maximum revolution, rubber-wristed tweaker, unattached to a county, he’s got one of the spin-bowling scholarships.

I suppose one of the functions of this blog is to bring togther all of the news items on reverse swing from the different sources on the web. Troy Cooley has given an interview to Cricinfo Australia with the prospect of another tomorrow.
It doesn’t add much to what he’s said before on reverse swing although I rather liked his succinct summing up of what a fast bowler needs:
You have to have either swing, seam or speed, or be big, tall and bouncy. Each bowler has their own skill set and brings it to a team of bowlers and you want things to be a bit different.
The other nice thing in the interview is he uses “we” when he’s talking about England – perhaps his allegiances haven’t fully reverted.
Apologies for the lack of recent entries – I’ve been on holiday.
